ADVENTURER

adˈvenCHər:  an unusual and exciting experience of activity calling for enterprise and enthusiasm.

It's safe to say that Matt has engaged in many usual and exciting activities.  Just how many?  The list is long.

But it's not about lists.  Matt believes that life is meant to be lived in way in which we are all constantly looking for new experiences; new opportunities for learning and growth.  Adventure can, and should be a part of everyday life.  Matt clearly exhibits this belief.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.  Specialization is for insects.

-Robert A. Heinlein, “Time Enough for Love” (1973)

It all began with a trip to Mexico during Matt's university studies.  That life-changing adventure opened a door that in turn opened many other doors.  From that single event, Matt has since embarked on the goal to visit every state of his home country (all 50 states of the USA; completed in July 2014) and every country in the world.  Currently , Matt has visited 100+ countries in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Antarctica (see map below for visited countries).

Matt has checked many of the items on the adventure lists: climb, hike, ski, raft, spelunking, canyoneering, dive, skydive, safari, expedition, rappel, hunt, fish, cycle.  Though the list is impressive, life is more than a checklist.

The more memorable moments, the moments worth sharing, have been important conversations at 7,000 meters or learning how to make traditional tortillas from a single mother or sleeping on the dirt floor of a rondavel with newly found friends or dancing with half a million revelers during traditional Hindi celebrations.  These are the rewards that are cherished and remembered long after any checklist has been forgotten.  These are the experiences that Matt integrates into all of his services offered.
