Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back.  Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans, that the moment one definitely commits oneself, all sorts of things occur that would never otherwise have occurred.  A whole stream of events issue from that decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.  Whatever you can do or dream, begin it.  Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

-William Hutchinson Murray, “The Scottish Himalayan Expedition” (1951)

Matt speaks on the following two topics or can create a customized presentation to meet the theme of your event.

Achieving the Impossible

"Dream what is possible if you start asking yourself 'Why not?'"

Share the story of Matt's self-supported cycling trip throughout North and South America; a two-year and 25,000 mile (40,000 km) odyssey which took Matt through 18 countries and nearly every ecosystem of the world.

The trip begins in the mountains of Utah [USA] with winter approaching.  Having made little preparations, Matt began to "head south" only to find that he unintentionally forgot to pack food.  Cycling with only four cookies to eat for the next three days, he begins an inspiring story of the boldness, strength, and resilience of the human spirit.

More than the sheer physicality and the brutal living conditions of living off a bike, the journey becomes a magnificent testament to living a life without regrets.  Matt's journey includes: building an aquaculture farm at 16,000 feet for a village of Incan descendants, being interrogated by the Colombian military, collecting 80+ traditional recipes from the original cooks, several run-ins with cartels, being hit by a bus, living on a Argentine ranch as a gaucho (cowboy), and many more experiences.

Matt embodies living the life of the locura elegante ("elegant craziness") that his two children have termed "Dawson style".  This is an audacious way to live without regrets, bordering on insanity, which is unlike anything you have ever seen before.  As you listen to Matt's journey, you will be awed and inspired to conquer the challenges you face.

Strap on your pedals and get ready for one "helluva" ride!

Participants will walk away from their #DawsonStyle experience:
